HOW WE ARE HELPING

Where we work in Kenya

While Kenya is blessed with more infrastructure than many African nations, it is also home to some of the largest slums and pockets of extreme poverty in the world. Our work in the nation is focussed in key areas around Nairobi that have become a refuge to abandoned and orphaned children. The Precious Kids Center in Kitale is home to a large number of children facing disabilities and is situation in the middle of the community of Kitale, an area known for extreme poverty, substance abuse, and social unrest. Wings of Compassion specifically is a safe refuge for young mothers who were forced into abusive situations at a young age. Many girls as young as 14 come to Wings of Compassion to escape a hopeless or even life or death situation. In many of the rural northern counties of Kenya, village girls are sold for livestock or promised to older men against their will. Wings of Compassion is unique in that the staff must take care of infants while supporting the young mothers to find their own healing and hope as they grow into young ladies. Education is a key component that we invest in, and we have seen how providing the children with a quality education unlocks opportunities helps our children reach the potential God has for them.
